Negotiating prices: Unfortunately there is no way of knowing ahead of time if a yard sale has blow out prices and great deals. Of course, if people are leaving with their arms full, you can assume that you'd better not waste anymore time, so you can gather what is left. Use common sense when parking. Don't block driveways, park on lawns or block the road. Now get moving and start checking out the goods. Before deciding to buy something at the asking price, it doesn't hurt to ask: "is the best price?" or "can you do any better?" You can always put it down if the answer is no. If you really want it badly (and if it is still available) pick it up again later, and pay the price if you still can't negotiate a better deal. But you'd be surprised how the price can vary, especially at the end of the day. Sometimes it helps to find things wrong with it:" it's out of style", "it's chipped", "That color is ......" etc..... Be creative and have fun! Don't be serious. Lighten up and just go around and feel great by scoring some good deals. One last note: If something is a really good deal, pay the damn asking price with a smile!
