Have your own yard sale - tips

It's really not that difficult to pull it off and you can turn your "clutter" into cold cash. You'd be surprised how quickly the $$ add up. List your sale in the newspaper, describing some exciting items that will be on sale. Get plenty of markers, change, singles, 5's 10's, labels, money apron etc. Plan to display your items so they look inviting. Look organized, do groupings. To direct yardsalers to your yard, make large, clearly written signs on a bright board and go aound in about a 1 mile radius. Be sure you place signs strategically a good distance before intersections. I can't tell you how many people place signs right at the corner. That's not going to work. Cars are moving and drivers need time to react. Keep in mind that you are not a retail store, and are not going to get high prices for your prized possesions, so price accordingly. This way you will have a better chance of not having to bring it to the dump after the sale. If parking could be a problem, make special arrangements. If there are "No Parking" regulations in effect, contact the authorities to see if you can get a waivier, or at least see if they will cut you some slack. It also might be wise to ask your neighbors to join in. When they are part of the cause of the disruption in your quiet neighborhood it's not so bad. You can even socialize during slow periods. Who knows, you might even start an ongoing tradition. In the future "easthamptonyardsales.com" plans to host block association blogs. A multi family sale is always better that one done alone.
